A fun side project survival knife. The original blade is Navy brand, a 440c Stainless steel from a company that’s obviously trying to benefit from the design appeal of a well known knife manufacturer. I had the original folder to test out in the deserts of Moab, UT. It failed breaking near the hinge during some batoning down a 2.5” dia piece of pine. I used the broken blade and TIG welded it on to some 304 stainless steel and made it a new handle. It has a full tang, storage in the handle for water purification tablets & tinder, a crush pad, and a firesteel. The handle is made of ebony and the belt clip is set up for a horizontal draw from the belt but can also be a traditional vertical draw, or an upside down draw for a back pack shoulder strap.

The telescopic links of the baton snap together in an open position and will not collapse until tapped on the ground. The holster has a snug fit, a belt loop in the top, and a ring at the bottom so it can be carried in the open position.
