What you will see in this episode:
In part 2 of the series on how to weld 4130 Chrome Moly, we address some key issues asked about 4130 including filler materials, cooling rates, heat treatments, and weld size. The focus of this video is to show you how to weld 4130 tubing commonly found in performance racing, bikes and other applications.

The Setup:
Before setting up to do the actual welding, Wyatt goes over some questions that were received from you, the viewer. many people were asking about filler material, so in this segment, Wyatt gives you the top 3 filler materials to use when welding 4130 applications. If you are using any one of the 3 mentioned in the video (3:49) you are in great shape.

Before Wyatt starts to weld he goes over some basic preparation you should do to the surface. At the very least, you should wipe the surface down with acetone, but pre-cleaning with a deburring wheel is preferred.

The Welding:
When welding small diameter tubing it is important to not try and weld out of position. The great thing about TIG welding is that if you get out of position you can stop, reposition and start up again. One nice feature when using 045 diameter is that you get very nice control out of the puddle.

Remember, when reaching the fillet area in a cluster you may require additional amperage to obtain the correct puddle size.
