How to test stainless steel grade 304
A. Instruments for testing
1. Any stainless steel material for testing
2. High power 9v battery
3. Electrolyte for detection of molybdenum.
B. Procedure:
Take a stainstainless steel material put few drops of electrolyte on it. Now get high power battery of 9v deep (-ve) pin of battery in drops & another on dry area just drag it on stainless steel material till you found the colour change at (-ve) end of battery. If you found it RED or DARK BROWN then stainless steel grade is 304 (300 series) & if it is black then it is of grade 202. (200 Series)

Used- Hellmich Reactor, 112 Gallon (424 Liter), 316 Stainless Steel, Vertical. Approximate 32-1/2″ diameter x 31″ straight side. Flat clamp on top, dished bottom. Internal rated -1/3.5 bar (51 psi) at 150 degrees C (302 F), 304 stainless steel jacket rated 8 bar (116 psi). Top center entering anchor style agitator with side and bottom scrappers, on 1-1/2″ diameter shaft, driven by a 3 kW, 3/50/220/380 volt, 1400/22 rpm gear motor. Offset top entering saw tooth blade, approximate 10″ diameter on 1-1/2″ diameter shaft, driven by a 15 kW 3/50/380/660 volt, 1450 rpm motor. Hydraulic top lift, 3 spray balls. Openings top: 7″ tri-clamp, 6″ sight glass, (2) 5″ for agitators, (1) 5″ with cover, (2) 2″, (1) 1-1/2″, (3) 1″ for spray balls, side: 1-1/8″ tri-clamp. (2) 2″ bottom outlet. Mounted on a carbon steel frame. Serial# M13552, built 1989.
