Aluminium alloy 7075-T6 is a high strength developed specially for aircraft and aerospace applications, known as “aircraft grade”. 7075-T6 compromises mainly of zinc and copper making 7075 one of the highest strength aluminium alloys available.
7075 in the T6 temper is stronger than most mild steels. 7075 is considered to have good machinability, good corrosion resistance but is not good for welding.
Aluminium 7075-T651 has similar characteristics to T6 but goes through an extra process to relieve some of the stresses in the material.
